<p>The machine consists of a frame held vertically on forks (23) supported and moved hydraulically by a tractor. The bottom of the assembly is a grid of spikes (4, 5). A rectangular frame (7) is moved hydraulically upwards and dowards, and encloses an endless chain driving a series of teeth (15, 16). The machine is used by raising the rectangular frame clear of the grid, then pushing the spikes into the storage pile at the required distance down from the top. The frame is then lowered, and the teeth cut out a rectangular piece which is then lifted clear by the tractor.</p> |
