<p>A thread cutter has a cinematic transmission between the motor and the cutting tool (8), controlling the number of active tool revolutions and reversing the tool for withdrawal, with precise length of thread cut. A linearly reciprocating rack (40) may be incorporated so that one revolution of the motor (1) drive shaft (10) gives a complete thread cutting and withdrawal cycle. A disc (30) driving a con rod (32) pinned to the linearly guided and sliding rack (40), is mounted on an extension (3) of the motor drive shaft (10), incorporating a clutch (2). The rack drives a pinion (41) and a train of gear wheels (42, 43) connected to the tool spindle (6). A die screw (60) with a linearly guided worm (61) is between the driven gear wheel (43) and the tool (8), to rotate and reciprocate the spindle. The tool mandrel may retract into the spindle against a spring.</p> |
