Fan blade root locking - using taper headed bolt bearing on rod in radial hole communicating with root slot

The hub (1) of the fan is provided with a number of oblique double T section slots (3) around its periphery to receive the roots of the blades (4). The base of the slot (3) is provided with radial hole (7) which communicates with a transverse hole (12). A short rod (6) with an oblique end surface (9) fits in the hole (7). A bolt (11) with a tapered head (10) abuts against the rod ends surface (9). The bolt (11) is tightened outwards against the root (8) of the blade (4) and wedges it against the surface of the T slot (3). The bolt (11) also serves to retain the end flange.
