The medical instrument is for taking samples for biopsy, particularly from a cellulitis case. It has a hollow section for receiving the samples. The latter are taken by rotating the hollow section (1) and simultaneously sucking in the fragments of tissue cut free. Where the section is a needle, there can be a hollow cylinder in which an annular groove is formed (4). A rotary tube (5) passes coaxially through the cylinder (3) and has a port (6) communicating with the groove, the needle being fixed to its forward end. The pipe from an exhauster (7) is connected to the groove at one side.
