<p>Process comprises static percolation through an adsorbant, regenerated support, esp. highly adsorbant active C of low catalytic activity. The C is pref. obtd. by calcining vegetable material. Pref. the water being treated flows downwards through a layer of C which is then washed with hot water or steam which passes through the layer in any direction. By removing most of the nitrogenous impurities the water is made fit to drink and discharge of pollutants into rivers etc. is avoided.</p> |
