Fertilisers prodn. from poultry droppings - by mixing with fibrous material and multibed composting

Prodn of fertiliser from poultry droppings comprises mixing with peat, refuse, bog earth, etc., in the presence of air by centrifugal action without extn. of moisture. The resulting loose mass of fine particles is heaped into a flat bed and subjected to rapid composting. After a predetermined time, another flat bed of the mass is spread over the first bed and composting is recommenced. Each successive bed is pref. added when the temp. of the composting mass begins to drop. After conversion of all the beds, the process can be repeated using the composted material instead of peat, etc. The multibed system ensures total composting of the top layer of each successive bed and takes up less storage space for a given amt of material than single bed system.
