<p>A process for driving tubular piles horizontally into an embankment or similar continuously disintegrates and carries away the earth at the face during the operation. The earth in the floor area is progressively demolished at two, or more separated points, under the protection of shield structures at the face. Sliding tracks are set up under this protection, with the tubular unit supported on them, both during the forwarding process and in their final setting. These tracks may be made from prefabricated concrete components, or from site concrete, or by consolidation of the remaining base. Long and wide tubular structures can be accurately pressed into the earth.</p> |
