A noise screen used with windows, glazed doors, etc., is a length of material (11), made of rubber or rubber-like plastics, fitting the width of the opening concerned (2). This can be rolled up and down, in the manner of a roller blind, on a spindle and mounted in the area of the top edge of the opening. It may be guided by side rails (8) fitted to the openings, and these may be insulated against noise. There may be a weight on the end that drops down, and this end can extend beyond the bottom bar (9) of the window or door frame, when lowered. The material may be multi-layered, and may have a heat reflecting outside coating. This screen can be subsequently fitted to existing doors and windows, at low cost, and permits natural indoor ventilation.
