Fuel injector for indirect injection - has one way valve to promote buzzing and prevent fuel vapour leakage

The fuel injector inner bore (1) is stepped to form two shoulders to respectively support the valve seat ring and the valve closing spring. A one way valve consisting of a spring loaded ball, is fitted below the fuel inlet union and opens towards the injector valve seat. The purpose of the valve is to vibrate on its seat to improve the fuel spray. The valve also acts as a vapour seal when the engine has been stopped by preventing accumulated vapours passing into the intake manifold and escaping to atmosphere.
