1,197,754. Buckles for seat belts. R. C. FISHER. 21 July, 1967 [20 Oct., 1966], No. 33774/67. Heading E2A. A seat-belt buckle has a pivoted latch plate 30 for engaging an aperture 63 in an inserted tongue 62, a lever 32 having portions 34 which engage under arms 35 of the latch plate, and a pivoted push plate 45 by which the lever may be rocked to move the latch plate to releasing position against the action of a spring plate 44. The latch plate 30 and lever 32 have projections by which they are pivoted in apertures 29 and 28 respectively in a U-shaped frame 23 which has notches 64 to receive the end of the tongue 62 and hold the tongue against the Abase 13 of a case. During assembly, the U-shaped frame 23, with the latch plate and lever, is slid into the case where it is retained 'by means of interengaging notches under the action of a bowed spring plate 37. Also retained in the case is a U-shaped frame 15 carrying a belt bar 18. A cover plate 54 fits over the case and has an aperture to give access to the push plate 45. |
