<p>The lateral thruster duct (2) has peripheral impellers (4, 5, 6) in opposing directions, and arranged so that the cross section of the duct is not altered through the impeller. The impeller is mounted in a widened section of the duct, or in a lateral chamber, with injector ducts (4) angled to the main duct. Any cross-sectional shape of main duct can thus be used, especially flat profile types which allow ice floes to pass through without damage to the impeller. The duct can be at the bottom of the flat hull.</p> |
