A depression responding pump (10) is provided to give fuel to a jet (22) situated at the carburettor venturi (2). The pump is actuated by an electromagnetic valve (30) excited by an electric current from the vehicle speed indicator (33). The depression responding pump (10) contains a diaphragm (13) dividing the pump into two chambers (14, 15). The first chamber is connected to a depression source (17). The second chamber is a fuel reserve chamber and contains a non return valve in communication with the carburettor float chamber (4). A second non return valve (20) and a feed pipe (21) establishes a flow to the fuel jet (22). Should the vehicle speed be under a predetermined rate, the electro magnetic valve is excited and allows the depression source to the pump (10) to be established.
