The cast iron housing (1) is connectable to steel pipes, esp. in mixing units in the pipe networks of central heating installations. It has stub ends (2) of steel pipes embedded in the casting. The casting conforms to the complex shape of the network, while the steel stubs are flanged for connection to the network piping by welding. The inner end of each stub is swaged into a small radially outward flange (3) so that the stub becomes firmly lodged in the housing during the casting process. The embedded part of the stub may be plated e.g. with tin.
|
