The screw-on top for bottles (2) which can be held with one hand is provided with a hinged flap (10). The screw sleeve (13) can be provided with either internal or external thread. A lever (11) which is attached to the lid (10) can be operated with the thumb of the hand that holds the bottle. It is thus possible to hold and to open and close the bottle with one hand. The lever may be arranged to fold down onto the top of the screw closure when not in use.
