Anti-epileptic hexahydro-pyrimidine derivs. - with higher activity and less side effects than phenobarbital or primidone

New hexahydro-pyrimidine derivs. are of formula (I): in which R1=methoxymethyl and R2=H or methoxymethyl. (I) have high anticonvulsive activity and may be used as anti-epileptics. The activity of (I) is higher than that of known phenobarbital or primidone without the side-effects connected with these. (I) is more water-soluble and its lipoid solubility is increased. They may be used in aq. solns. as injections and infusions as well as in suppositories.
