1469220 Removing plungers from pistons CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 16 Oct 1975 [3 March 1975] 42500/75 Heading B4C [Also in Division F2] A plunger 22 in a bore 18 of a piston 16 is removed from the piston along with an insert 24 by mounting the piston 16 on a base 12 so that the bore 18 is aligned with a supply bore 36 in the base, an hydraulic medium (grease as described) under pressure being injected through the supply bore 36 to remove the plunger 22 and insert 24. The piston 16 is held in a channel 32 in the base 12 by a bolt 48 and a cap 14. The cap 14 has chambers 46 to receive the ejected plungers and inserts. The channel 32 has seats 34 and seals 40 therein to seal the grease supply. The piston 16 has a pair of side bores 28 on each side of the bore 18, as shown in Fig. 4 so that after the pressure has raised the plunger the bore 18 will fill with the pressure medium. |
