<p>1470408 Microwave ovens RAYTHEON CO 30 July 1974 [30 July 1973] 33642/74 Heading H5M FIG. 4 A microwave oven comprises a source of microwave energy 20 and a rotisserie rod 58 for spitting food 40 to be cooked or a pointed probe 68, Fig. 4, for insertion into the food to be cooked, the rotisserie rod or probe having the structure of a transmission line with periodic radiating element for radiating fringe fields, and the rod or probe being coupled to the source so that, in use, microwave energy is radiated into the interior of the food. Connection with the source of microwave energy 20, which may be a magnetron but is preferably a solid state device, is via a waveguide 60 and coaxial line 64. The radiating elements may be slots 74 and the slots may be filled with a dielectric material such as P.T.F.E. A support plate 54 is also coupled to the microwave source and also has radiating slots 56. A radiant energy browning element 66 may be included in the oven.</p> |
