Hardened inserts 18, 22 form the contacting faces of the seat and closure member. The surfaces 19, 24 may be parallel or may slightly diverge with respective included angles of 100 and 90 degrees. A spherical or conical projection 49 is provided on the end of the closure member. The intersection of the outlet 12 and the chamber 15 is chamfered at 50. Rotation of the handwheel 34 to close the valve moves the stem 31 axially which movement is transmitted via collar portion 44, cup 46, and metal sealing diaphragm 36 to the valve stem 21 which is biased towards open position by a spring 28.</p> |
