PURPOSE:To hold recorded information over a long term by a method wherein a recording film is selectively phase-separated by such a means as light or heat for changing the optical properties of the appropriate part. CONSTITUTION:For example, a recording film 3 is formed by sputtering a mixture of (LiO2)25 (SiO2)75 using two targets of LiO2 and SiO2 on a heat interference layer 2 on a substrate 1 and regulated in a single-phase crystal state. An optical recording medium is rotated, in this state the recording area of the recording film 3 is irradiated with a laser beam, and the recording film temperature of the irradiated part is set to an unmixed area temperature. In this manner, a binodal decomposition is generated in a part of the recording film 3; the part is selectively phaseseparated to be changed in reflectivity for writing information. Alternatively, a heat interference layer made of BiO2 is formed on a substrate, a recording film made of TeOx is formed on the surface of the heat interference layer, the optical recording medium is rotated, in this state the recording area of the recording film is irradiated with a laser beam, and the recording film of the irradiated part is once fused and cooled. In this manner, information is recorded using a phase separation caused by a spinodal decomposition. |
