PURPOSE:To improve the detection precision of the knock component with a simple device by calculating the heat generation for the crank angle in every cycle based on the pressure change wave-form of a combustion chamber, and judging the strength of the knock with this value. CONSTITUTION:A removing means (b) removing the preset high-frequency component from the output of a pressure detecting means (a) outputting the combustion pressure or the signal changed in proportion with it is provided. The total heat generation for the crank angle in every cycle is calculated by a total heat calculating means (e) based on the pressure change wave-form removed with the high-frequency component of the combustion pressure outputted from the removing means (b) and the operation state of an engine. A knock heat calculating means (g) calculating the heat generation by knocking in one cycle is provided, the ratio between the heat generation by normal combustion in one cycle or one or more in the total heat generation and the heat generation by knocking is calculated, and the knocking strength is judged based on this ratio. |
