New propanolamine derivs. have formula (I): In the formula, Ar = aryl (opt. substd. by halo, CF3, alkyl or alkoxy) or another aromatic gp. such as pyridyl; R1 = alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl (opt. substd. by halo, CF3, alkyl or alkoxy); R = opt. branched alkyl, aralkyl or aryl and A = tert. amino such as pyrrolidino, piperidino, morpholino or dialkylamino. Used for treatment of angina pectoris by admin. in daily doses of 100-800 mg by usual routes. (I) have oral LD50 in mice of about 500 mg/kg. Typically, the specific cpd. 1-(3-isobutoxy-2-(4-chlorophenyl-benzoylamino)propyl)-pyrrolidine is pred. by reaction of parachlorobenzanilide with sodiumamide and 1-(3-isobutyoxy-2-chloropropyl)-pyrrolidine in xylene. |
