<p>The container used for foodstuffs is cylindrical in form, having a side wall (1), a cover (2), a bottom (3) and a partition (4) which grips the container when inserted into it and is permeable to certain fluids. The partition (4) may consist of a perforated plate or membrane with a vertical rim and a bead, the circumference of which is of a length corresponding to that of the inner circumference of the container. Or it may be of elastic hygienic material, which can be inserted under pressure. Depending upon the nature of the foodstuff, the solid matter suspended in a fluid phase may be dispensed after cooking or pre-cooking, into the container sealed at one end and labelled. The partition plate is then pressed in to the level of the contents, and the fluid constituents of the foodstuff are loaded into the remaining space. The contained is then sealed and heat treated to finish cooking of the contents.</p> |
