The water circulation speed between the lower (11) and upper (13) water cooling chambers is accelerated by the formation of an annular gap (15) between a tube protecting the body of the injector and the separation wall (10) in the cylinder head. The exhaust valves are located in a removable cage (7) for ease of replacement and are directly cooled by the lower cooling chamber with the aid of a vertical boring (16) leading from the intake union (17). The water cooling chamber below the exhaust port (6) is provided with ribs all of which run in the same direction as the water flow.
