<p>The passive stabilizer is for damping the rolling movements of water craft. It has a mass movable between two end stops at right angles to the rolling axis of the craft. The end stops (94, 96) are shock absorbent, and the mass (84) is guided with little friction between them. The mass has a guide section 88) so that with only a slight inclined position of the craft, the mass is moved by gravity downwards against one of the stops. The mass and guide unit are formed by a mast movable at right angles to the rolling axis. The mast is charged by springs (98, 100) so that it normally occupies a position vertical to the deck. The end stops are positioned on both sides of the movement path of the mast. The tip of the mast carries an additional weight.</p> |
