1457370 Removing trash from open-end spinning machines PARKS - CRAMER (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 18 Oct 1974 [5 July 1974] 45277/74 Headings D1D D1F and D1N A method of spinning yarns in open-end spinning machines 10 comprises removing fiber waste from the rotors of a group of open-end machines through a first passageway A in each machine and removing trash waste from adjacent the paths of travel of fibers to the rotors through a second passageway B in each machine, the passageways A and B being connected to a source of airflow 70 common to all the machines in the group. The passageways' A contain primary filters 60 which have rotary filter screens 62 to temporarily trap waste before releasing it to a waste collection zone 80 with a rotary drum filter 81. A pressure sensor 66 activates rotation of the filter screens 62. A fire detector 100 in primary filter 60 allows a time delay in the event of fire to allow for the air stream to blow it out and then closes flap 116 to stop the air flow, stops the relevant spinning machine and releases extinguishant into filter 60. A similar detector 80a in the filter 80 shuts down all machines in the group and releases extinguishant into filter 80. The air flow from the trash waste collection is much lower than that of the rotor fiber waste to prevent good fiber being extracted by it. This is achieved by a restricting section 132 in passageway B. The trash waste first enters a collecting chamber before extraction through passageway B. This extraction may occur periodically e.g. by means of a belt 133 with apertures which pass the ends of pipes 31' from respective spinning stations (Fig. 7). Specification 1455066 is referred to.
