Ethanol prepn from cellulose, cellulase and microorganisms - using aq broth from cellulose cellulolytic fermentation as cellulase source

The prepn. of ethanol by simultaneously reacting a cellulose material, a cellulase and a microorganism producing alcohol in anaerobic conditions as in parent patent, is improved by using, as the cellulase source, the aqueous broth obtained by cultivating a cellulolytic microorganism in an aq. nutrient media in the presence of a cellulose material. The entire culture is used without any separation of the components. About a 15% increase in ethanol yield is obtained.
