On the downward stroke, with valve 8 in its upper position, product, eg. liquid or viscous material, beneath piston 2 is discharged through outlet 7, and fresh product is drawn into the cylinder above piston 2 through inlet 3. On the upward stroke, with valve 8 in its lower position, product is transferred from above to beneath the piston via passage 6 and, due to the difference in volume caused by piston rod 9, additional product is drawn through inlet 3.</p> |
