<p>A press for the mfr. of flat composite board includes a pair of relatively reciprocable platens (10,14) on which are mounted a series of pressure bars (1-8) movable individually longitudinally along the platens. In use the platens are permanently in the pressure applying position and the bars are moved one by one from a position at the exit end of the press to a position at the feed end. When all the bars are located at the feed end the bars are moved in unison back to the exit end and this cycle is repeated. During movement of individual bars to the feed end the friction of the remaining bars is sufficient to prevent movement of the board but the concerted movement of the bars to the exit end causes a length of board to be drawn through the press.</p> |
