<p>A betatron for use as a flaw detector has been designed with a simplified circuit, smaller dimensions and weight and with a smaller power consumption. A displacement winding which changes the field distribution in the airgap is excited by current pulses produced by the discharge of a capacitor. The displacement winding lies in series with the magnetising winding across the capacitor with two thyristors. Two other thyristors, cross-connected, join the magnetizing winding only to the capacitor to recover the energy stored in the electromagnet.</p> |
