An electrode arrangement has an implantable, flexible, isolated electrically conductive structure, the back end of which can be connected to a stimulator whilst the front end section can be fitted inside the heart. At the front end of the assembly, there is a non-insulated, electrically conductive, spiral coil, behind which a bolt with a slot is fixed. The firm attachment of the bolt to the coil makes it possible to screw its sharp tip into the body tissue, by suitably turning a detachable guide wiere, flattened at its front end to fit the slot in the bolt. The electrode is easily introduced into the heart through a vein, where it is unequivocally anchored. It can be easily removed and repositioned. It has a very flexible lead so that there is no risk of a perforation. It has a small electrode surface and this draws very little energy rom the pacemaker.
|
