The synchronous timing switch with at least one switching path is intended for a portable electric cable. The timing switch housing (1) has a coaxial input and output leads (3, 5) to the switching contact. The control elements (2, 7) for programming of the timing switch, and/or for its manual actuation are arranged rotation symmetrically and/or orthogally to the cable axis. Preferably the input and output leads of the cable are provided in an oval housing which may be watertight and/or impact protected, especially of plastics. A function switch (1) may be connected on the housing of the timing switch.
