The sliding clasp fastener has rows of fastening elements (9) made of a monofilament of plastic material. They consist of eyelets (5) and shaped heads (2) connected to two joining branches (10). They are supported in a structure of longitudinal textile threads (8), each pair of branches being held in a pocket of the threads. The coupling eyelets extend beyond the threads. In the region of engagement, the eyelets overlap and are then brought into the plane of the joining branches. The joining branches of each fastening element are held in juxtaposition in the plane of the fastener, rest directly against each other, and are joined alternately by curves.
