<p>The wheel is fitted to a jig with a central axis and a simple tyre fitting lever is located on the axis with a securing nut, to allow the lever to swing around the wheel. A pressure roller is clamped to the lever, at a distance equal to the edge of the wheel rim, and has its axis at 18 deg. to that of the lever. The roller presses the tyre bead over the wheel rim. The position of the roller can be adjusted by having it clamped to the lever in different positions. The length of the lever is sufficient to allow manual force to be used to fit the tyre. No complicated jigs and tools are required to fit the tyre without damaging the beads.</p> |
