The protective cover for compass saws is a transparent shield (2) or magnifying lens held in place by two clips (3). The clips are fitted to threaded shaft which screw into the body of the ram guide and serve as a fixing for the ram cover plate (5) at the same time. The clips may be resilient U-shaped members formed as one with the threaded fixing studs.
