The automatic gear box has a hydraulic torque converter and a mechanical gear change operated by servo-assisted brakes. The servo force is derived from an engine-driven pump. A pressure limiting valve is fitted in the servo line to the low speed gear control. This eliminates pressure peaks during gear changes to provide a smooth change. - The system eliminates clutch snatch during cold starting, and prevents increase in engine revs. as well as damaging jerks while changing down for engine braking.
