1468562 Continuous dyeing and printing of polyamides with reactive dyes HOECHST AG 6 Aug 1974 [8 Aug 1973] 34594/74 Heading- D1B Piece goods made of synthetic polyamide fibres alone or blended with cellulose fibres are dyed or printed by a continuous process using reactive dyes according to the thermofixation process, the process comprising applying to the textile material an aqueous pad-' ding liquor printing paste which has been weakly acidified by means of a buffer system consisting of acetic acid and an alkali metal acetate and which contains a fibre-reactive dyestuff in which the reactive group has been reversibly masked by reaction with an N-alkylaminoalkyl-sulphonic acid or an alkali metal salt thereof and after drying the material, fixing the dye by means of dry heat. Preferably a methyltaurinoethylsulphone dyestuff is used the preferred buffer system being 2 to 4 ml/l of 60% acetic acid and 10 g/l of crystallised sodium acetate to give a pH of 5.8.
