摘要 <p>1456418 Separating gases BAYER AG 6 June 1974 [7 June 1973] 25200/74 Heading BIL [Also in Division C1] Polar or Polarisable substances are separated from less polar or less polarisable substances by use of a type A zeolite of formula: xMe<SP>II</SP>O.nMe<SP>I</SP> 2 O.Al 2 O 3 .(1.85 Œ 0.50)SiO 2 wherein Me<SP>I</SP> is a monovalent metal (e.g. Na) Me<SP>II</SP> is a divalent metal (e.g. Ca), x = 0.80-1.20 n = (0.8-1.2) - x. In the examples the zeolite is used for the enrichment of oxygen from air at room temperature and for 'the removal of traces of CO 2 from air. The capacity of the zeolite for the former process was measured in the figured apparatus, where (1) denotes the test tube (3) denotes a vacuum pump and (4) denotes a gas meter monitoring the output of the gas from (3); dried compressed air is supplied via pipe (5) through a reducing valve (6) and a buffer vessel (8) to test tube (1). The adsorption pressure is precision adjusted to 20 mm Hg through the height of the column of liquid in the "immersion vessel" (11). The outlet end of the test tube 1 may be connected via shutoff valves (12a), (13a), (13b) and (13c) to calibrated gasometers (14a), (14b) and (14c). Alternatively the gas flowing from the test tube (1) may be diverted via shut-off valve (12b) to a gas meter 15. The pressure prevailing at the outlet end of the test tube is measured via mercury manometer 16. The adsorption-desorption cycle consists of the phases (A) evacuation, (B) filling to the adsorption pressure (C) passing air through (1) until the zeolite until the gas meter (15) indicates a specified gas output. This cycle is repeated until the volume of gas pumped off during (A) is constant as measured by gas meter (4). In the third phase of a cycle, the gas issuing from (1) is passed into the gasometer (14a) until a predetermined quantity of gas has been collected. Thereafter the gas stream is diverted to e.g. gasometer 14(b) where another predetermined sample is collected. The collected samples are then analysed for their O 2 content.</p>
