1511802 Sprinkler head GRUNAU CO INC 23 March 1976 [25 March 1975 19 Jan 1976] 11596/76 Heading A5A , A fire extinguisher sprinkler head comprises a frame 1, discharge outlet 4, a deflector plate 8, a compression screw 7, a cap 9 normally closing 4 and a release lever assembly comprising a lever 11 and a strut 26, the lever 11 having two side arms 16 with sockets 20 therein which hold a tube 23 full of fusible material 24 via balls 22 which are partly located in the sockets and partly in recesses formed in 24, the outer part of tubing 23 resting against strut 26, the lever 11, strut 26 and tube 23 being tensioned by offset pressure from the screw 7. In fire conditions 24 melts and allows the balls 22 to be displaced inwardly in 23 due to the tension thereon, thus allowing 23 to fall away. The unsupported lever 11 and strut 26 then fall and allow cap 9 to come free of 4. Ramps 21 are provided on the side arms to facilitate insertion of the tube 23 and balls 22. In a second embodiment the strut contacts the adjusting screw directly and the lever contacts the cap. |
