PURPOSE:To make the gradient of the toe part sharp by incorporating two kinds of specified compounds into a silver halide emulsion layer contg. a specified magenta coupler. CONSTITUTION:A magenta coupler represented by formula I, a compound represented by formula II and a compound represented by formula II are incorporated into at least one of silver halide emulsion layers. In the formula I, Z is a group of nonmetallic atoms required to form a heterocyclic ring contg. N, X is H or a substituent eliminable by a reaction with the oxidized product of a color developing agent and R is H or a substituent. In the formula II, each of R21-R24 is H, halogen or the like. In the formula III, R31 is 1-5C alkyl and R32 is H or 1-5C alkyl. Since the compounds represented by the formulae II, III are combinedly used, the gradient of the toe part can be made sharp without increasing fog or considerably deteriorating the light resistance. |
