1469062 Sugary agglomerates FOOD TECHNOLOGY INC 23 Sept 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 39010/75 Heading A2B Dried or ground flakes of sugary syrups are agglomerated by mixing the flakes with sufficient water to form an extrudable paste, extruding the mixture through a die and cutting the mixture as it emerges from the die into pieces, and drying the pieces until the moisture content is 1-4% by wt. The flakes are produced by thin film drying of the syrups in the presence of a starch which has been partially gelatinized during the drying process and/or a soy protein containing material. The syrups may comprise liquid honey, high fructose corn syrup solids and/or molasses solids and the flakes may have added to them, an edible oil, a granular sweetener, an aqueous sweetener solution or soy flour. The extrusion die may be tubular or annular. |
