The invention relates to an industrial microscope intended for examining the end faces of optical fibres, this microscope including at least one eyepiece and at least one objective 5. According to the invention, attached to the zone of the microscope body 2 upstream of the objective 5 is a support element 1 which is extended below the objective 5 by a plate 1a, the plane of which makes an angle with the axis of the microscope equal to the Brewster angle, that is to say of the order of 50 to 60 DEG . This plate has a central bore in which is mounted a fibre-holder element 6 inside which the fibre 7 to be examined is centred so that the axis of the said fibre passes substantially through the axis y,y' of the microscope. <IMAGE>
