发明名称 TEMPERING ARTICLES BY USING THE HEAT OF SUBLIMATION
摘要
1385275 Tempering glass PPG INDUSTRIES Inc 10 Nov 1972 [10 Nov 1971] 51958/72 Heading ClM [Also in Division C7] Solid articles (of glass, metal or plastics material) are tempered by heating the article to an elevated temperature and applying particles of a sublimable solid, .having a sublimation temperature sufficiently below the elevated temperature to induce a temper in the article, towards the surface of the article. The glass article may be fibres, or may be a sheet, preferably of maximum thickness 100 mils. The sublimable solid is preferably particulate carbon dioxide. The treatment rate preferably is sufficient to develop a heat transfer coefficient of 125-600 British Thermal Units per hour per square foot per degree Fahrenheit at the glass surface. The sublimable particles preferably are applied in a fluid carrier, e.g. CO 2 gas. While solid CO 2 is the preferred sublimable material, other suitable such materials are aluminium butoxide, aluminium chloride, ammonium benzoate, ammonium bromide, ammonium carbamate, ammonium carbamate acid, ammonium chloride, ammonium fluoride, ammonium fluoborate, ammonium osmium chloride, ammonium salicylate, ammonium thiocarbonate, camphor, antimony fluoride, molybdenum oxydichloride, molybdenum oxytetrachloride, molybdenum oxytrichloride, molybdenum oxydifluoride, nickel dimethylglyoxime, niobium oxybromide, niobium oxychloride, zirconium tetrachloride and zirconium tetrabromide.
