1513075 Catch gear GRANGES FAHRZEUGTECHNIK GmbH 16 Sept 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 38393/76 Heading B8L A safety device for a suspended load 5 comprises a carrier band 2 which extends from a spring-loaded drum 12 through a slot 33 in a braking spindle 31 into a U-shaped loop 22 from which a connecting element 25 for the load suspends. The braking spindle is biased by weights 36 or magnetically to a position with the slot 33 aligned for free travel of the carrier band 2. The spindle carries drums 34, 35 for actuating bands 42, 43 which are connected to the carrier band 2 by a yoke 41. If the suspending ropes 16, 17 fail the falling load extends the carrier band 2 rapidly which causes the drum 12 to lock and the carrier band extension is stopped. The actuating bands 42, 43 thus extend and rotate the spindle 31 to lock the carrier band 2. |
