<p>The base (1) has an internally threaded blind hole, for attaching the clip to support. A transverse rectangular section slot (6) passes through the blind end and when the head wall (7) is extended to form a long, flexible band (4), which is wrapped around the pipe or cable and then inserted in the hole. It is retained in position by ratchet teeth on the inside walls of the hole. The teeth on the band slope towards the head to aid insertion and make the grip more secure. At entry, the internal width of the hole is the same as the overall width of the band, but exit, the dimension is the same as the root of the teeth on the band. In a variant, the half of the band attached to the head is made rigid, to form a guide for the pipes as well as attachment.</p> |
