Wall of compressor housing (10) has recess (32) located near the oil sump. The shell of the cylindrical recess is fitted with a system of heat transfer fins (42) inside the compressor housing. The recess accommodates the correspondingly shaped heating element (24) which is held in place by claws (28). The heating element is shaped to fit tightly into the recess in order to provide a good thermal contact with the walls of the recess. The clamps holding the heating element in position can be of bendable material instead of being removably fixed by screws.
