The folding cylinder has on its circumference at least one "fixed" folding flap (5) and one "controlled" folding jaw (7) which are adjustable in opposite directions for setting. In order to provide said folding cylinder with a simpler, more reliable and space-saving construction, the folding jaw (7) is mounted eccentrically and pivotably in a carrier (4), which is rotatable for setting, for the folding flap (5) and is connected to said carrier via a torsion spring (27) which presses the folding jaw (7) against a support outside the carrier (4). <IMAGE>
