<p>A method and device for controlling a flying body subject to thrust misalignments causing nutation is designed to enable control of the nutation without complex auxiliary thrusters or passive elements. The device is partic. applicable to two-axis spinning bodies with systems for controlling velocity, flight path, and altitude. The flying body contains a spinning platform on which is mounted a thrust control device, either a throttle or auxiliary thruster. Data signals received at the flying body are used to control the duty cycle of the thrust control device in proportion to the product of a whole number and the inverse of the nutation frequency. An altitude error detector mounted on the body may be used to produce a correcting signal.</p> |
