<p>A protective shield assembly, for use in filling an injection syringe e.g. with a radioactive material, can be connected at one end to a first shield surrounding an ampoule, (itself opt. having a cap and shoulders) and at the opposite end to a second shield surrounding the needle end of an injection syringe. The assembly retains the syringe firmly in position. Provision is made for an inner sleeve, an intermediate sleeve which can be connected to the protective shield surrounding the ampoule and an outer protective sleeve connected to the inner sleeve. The outer and inner sleeves are in contact with the intermediate sleeve and are capable of sliding relatively w.r.t. the intermediate sleeve. The sliding elements move the protection shield holding the injection syringe in its fixed position, towards the ampoule, so that the needle of the injection syringe penetrates the ampoule. Gives improved protection to the person responsible for filling the syringe, against undesirable radiation.</p> |
