Vehicle operating parameters dynamic measurement - involves roller test stand with flywheel on which vehicle wheels can roll

The measured parameter is esp. the power of the vehicle i.c. engine. A flywheel can be connected to at least one of the rollers, and is accelerated by the engine through the vehicle wheels. When the engine is unclutched, the flywheel drives the vehicle wheels and is decelerated. Power delivered to the vehicle wheels is determined during acceleration from the flywheel speed and its rate of change and from the moment of inertia of the test stand rotating components and possibly of the rotating vehicle parts. Power dissipation is determined during deceleration, and the i.c. engine power is calculated from the sum of the two values. A correction value is taken into consideration when the wheel power and dissipation power are determined.
