<p>A method and arrangement for flow measurement of fluids and gases are partic. suitable for use in the indication of instantaneous fuel flow in powered vehicles to enable an economical driving method to be adopted. The fluid or gas flows past and rotates a toothed wheel (U) whose teeth (Z) interrupt a light beam emitted from a light source (Q) and received by a photo-electric element (P). The resulting pulsed photo-electric element output signal is converted by a circuit (DU) into a rate of revolution or flow rate signal which is displayed on a meter (M). The wheel is contained in a sealed chamber (G) with input and output flow ports and transparent windows (F) for the light beam.</p> |
